Campbell County Issues
In a fine display of sportsmanship, the players from the LaFollette Middle and the Jacksboro Middle schools
posed for a group picture after the two teams did battle in the finals of the district basketball tournament, held
at Anderson County High School..

My son, Matthew "Shorty" Chadwell, a 4th grader at Jacksboro Elementary School hit his first
Hole-In-One today at Deerfield Golf Course. On hole number eleven, a par 3, he stepped up
with his trusty 3 wood and let 'er rip. The ball looked good off the tee, I told him it looked like he
hit a good one, we watched it, I told him that one was going to be close, it hit the green and
rolled a bit, and in it dropped. I think they probably heard me yell all around the course. I sure
am glad we had another young man with us, Shorty had a witness, a fellow school mate.

The land around Eagle Bluff Rock is on fire at this very minute. I got word of it and went right up there to
take some pictures for you to see. The LaFollette and Jacksboro Fire Departments along with the
Campbell County Rural Fire Department and the Tennessee Division of Forestry are working to
extinguish the fire. I talked to a fireman associated with the Caryville Fire Department, he told me they
do not know just yet what started the fire. Caryville is on standby just in case they are needed. The
LaFollette Rescue Squad is covering the Jacksboro Fire Station while the Jacksboro Fire Department is
on the mountain. Say a big Hoorah to all these folks the next time you see them. They worked together to
take care of this problem and still cover the needs of others in the county as well.

Sorry the pictures are not to great. I did not try to get to close as to get in the way of the fire fighters that
are endangering themselves to protect you and I. These pictures were taken between 6:30 and 7:30 PM
Saturday March 3,2007. I went back up there at around 9:00 PM and took some more pictures and also
got a few of the firefighters as well.
